THE CHILDREN’S TRAIN NETFLIX

THE CHILDREN’S TRAIN NETFLIX

We already talked about The Children’s Train when I read Viola Ardone’s book published by Einaudi

But above all, we talked about The Children’s Train when I read the book Happiness trains by Giovanni Rinaldi.

I became fond of Giovanni Rinaldi’s research work and his subsequent There was me on that train too and with words I travelled through the stories of many children, many families, many people who today still witness the beauty of solidarity through eyes that have seen the train of life run and through words that have much to teach us.

A discovery, a gift, which has brought us the privilege of the direct testimony of Americo Marino

Americo, not Amerigo, I am not mistaken: the real name of the man we knew as the protagonist of Einaudi or  The Children’s train Netflix, played by Christian Cervone and Stefano Accorsi is Americo

And if in some interviews Viola Ardone recognised Derna, Pachiochia or Maddalena as real characters, officially Americo remains a fictional character, despite the fact that significant elements such as his shoes, to name one, come from his direct testimony

This is why I could not miss seeing The Children’s train Netflix directed by Cristina Comencini and produced by Palomar.

The film was presented at the Rome Film Festival and has the support of the Emilia Romagna Region and Film Commission Torino Piemonte.

I sincerely hoped for a different epilogue with regard to the personal story of Americo, a person of rare sensitivity to whom I have grown fond of.

A thank you in the credits, a reference, a name, even coffee was mentioned.

How would you react if, we can say the whole world, given that The Children’s train has been translated into twenty-five languages, knew elements of your story, then declined in a different way?

Would you still be happy or would you suffer?

Have you seen The Children’s train Netflix?

If, like me, you are left with the thought of those children travelling to the unknown and how they found the affection of families who welcomed them as children, I think this video will move you, it is not fiction:

A GOOD SPY THRIVES UNDER PRESSURE

A GOOD SPY THRIVES UNDER PRESSURE

A good spy thrives under pressure.

How do you react under pressure?
Can you achieve the goal?

The target in question is a coffee prepared with a fantastic espresso machine

Unlikely and unexpected is the specialist intent on preparation.

What could possibly happen if the Terminator “himself” prepared your coffee?

The result explodes in full force in the commercial introducing the new Netflix series Heart of stone starring Gal Gadot

Schwarzenegger quotes True lies, what spy movie would you quote?

The very famous 007 medium sweet for example?

The Condor asked, “but what if the pressure wasn’t there?”

Pressure or no pressure? Enigma …

Or a palindrome

Definitely intelligence stuff …

The best spy is undoubtedly hidden in Jingle all the way, or not! What do you say?

A good spy thrives under pressure.

I had fun mentioning some spy movies, I suppose you recognized them all.

What, on the other hand, is your favorite film inspired by this strand?

If I say spy, what is the first name that comes to mind?

Can we agree that Mata Hari is perhaps the quintessential name? I would say that Mata, short for Margaretha, is even synonymous with spy.

The word spy comes from the Gothic spaíha according to the Treccani vocabulary, but derives from the French espie according to the etymological vocabulary, so the duality is extrinsic from the origin of the name.

Curious, isn’t it?

It is rather difficult to establish even the first spy in history, so perhaps we can settle for the first spy who makes explosive coffee, can’t we?

1899

1899

1899 is an eight-episode series, or rather, it is “a short journey” as described in the bio, created by Jantje Friese & Baran bo Odar for Netflix.

Short journey because, as communicated by the authors themselves, the series stops at the end of the first season, although two more were planned, as for Dark

Dark is referred to because the authors of 1899 are: Jantje Friese & Baran bo Odar, whose profiles by the way are currently non-existent …

On my opionion this series is definitely ICONIC at first because of this book:

May your coffee kick in before reality does.

Perfect.

AlsoI had one of those musically satisfying moments at the end of the first episode.

A surprise that was repeated in the concept, with different expressions though for each episode.

If you have already seen the series, we can talk about it in the comments: did you recognize each time?

The theme song then is a cover in the fitting interpretation of Eliot Sumner … last name that will surely ring a bell, right?

Also ça va sans dire: again the quotes and references chase each other, so much so that I encountered one of the themes I am particularly fond of,  in addition to the clues related to computer binary codes.

One of these coincides with a scene that I loved: cups raised in unison!!

Did you notice the glitch at this juncture?

So three things I am partial to, yet amazingly there is another one!

Triangles … that’s all I’ll add.

ENOLA HOLMES

ENOLA HOLMES

I must admit that I was very intrigued by this idea: the sister of the mythical investigator Sherlock Holmes which of course I love.

I have already talked about Agatha Christie and how she made me fall in love with detective stories through her books, after which I obviously passed on to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as well.

The character of Enola, however, was created by Nancy Springer after the rights expired, and on her books the production of Netflix was based which I would say is aimed in particular at the younger audience.

The main character is in fact played by Millie Bobby Brown, born in 2004: perhaps the most famous teenager ever after the success of her role in the Stranger Things series.

Unfortunately, I did not know her, and when in the credits I saw that she is also the executive producer, I realized that it was appropriate to deepen.

Some even call it the new Meryl Streep … who highlights her resemblance to Winona Ryder, who considers her as the most influential character of her generation after she became the youngest UNICEF ambassador in 2018.

But let’s get back to the movie

Also this time, as for Murder on the Nile I focus on choice of background song, albeit with less enthusiasm: unfortunately I have a problem with Courtney Love, although The Hole’s Celebrity skin track has been a huge success. What do you think about it?

I suppose this choice falls within the context of the message of female empowerment that characterizes the whole film.

Theoretically an important and necessary move, which however loses the potential of communicative innovation, ending up limiting itself to clichés that are not exactly avant-garde. Too bad indeed.

As you saw in the trailer, Enola also addresses the camera directly, breaking through the famous fourth wall. I find that Millie Bobby Brown can be very empathetic, nevertheless it feels like a sort of interruption of the pathos to me, but it’s probably me who am ancient laughing

On the other hand, I really liked puns like the one that reveals the anagram of the name, and I found the added value of Helena Bonham Carter but also of Henry Cavill important.

In this regard, I would take the opportunity to launch another poll: after your favorite Poirot, who is the best Sherlock Holmes in your opinion?

Henry Cavill, Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr.?

In this case I’m too biased … laughing
