1600 years! Happy birthday Venice!
I have already written several times about my falling in love with Venice so obviously today I can’t help but celebrate this special birthday!
Even if my tribute is nothing compared to the greeting received from them:
aren’t they beautiful ?!
And I absolutely advise you not to miss this virtual tour as well.
You will end the dreamy vision and with the desire to be able to breathe the atmosphere of the lagoon too, to walk through calli and campielli to discover the corners you don’t know, to wait for the sunset on the Canal Grande …
But no melancholy! Let’s take it as a destination to be able to reach soon!
A hundred deep solitudes taken together form the city of Venice – that is ber charm. An image for men of the future.
Friedrich Nietzsche
The future that Venice looks to, the very future that awaits us too.
A great place to visit 🙂
Sure. Wonderful. I LOVE Venice!
Have you ever been there?
Venice! How lovely this city is. For me, it has a dreamlike quality. Almost too beautiful to be true … I hope it will survive and not change much forever.
I agree on your every single word!
Venice is a dream for me too.
Have you ever seen the Indiana Jones movie? I always repeat Harrison Ford’s famous sentence: I LOVE VENICE.
Exactly “also too beautiful to be true” as you wrote <3
I do not watch movies at all, dear Claudia, so I do not know this movie you are mentioning. Certainlay Harrison Ford is right. I love Venice, too.
I remember reading Thomas Mann’s famous novella “Death in Venice”.
It describes this dreamlike fin de siècle atmosphere, which I felt too, when visiting Venice.
Olivia, on the other hand, I see too many films, and then I miss very important things like Thomas Mann’s book.
I find your description of how you felt when you visited Venice extremely beautiful. And it is wonderful to find in reality the emotions that reading gave us.
Interesting, Claudia. So you miss books because you watch films. With me, it is the other way around: because I read plenty of books, I have no time for films. And they bore me too much! I am definitely a book woman.
A book Woman is simply fantastic!!
Oh I miss many things, not only books, because I try to do too many things in respect of the time I have!
I love books, but also movies and music, art, fashion, places, languages, traditions and so on. I know: it’s too much.
