You make me feel like it’s Halloween the first time I heard this electronic gothic track by Muse I thought it could be a compliment. Cool!
However, this song lyrics are about feeling trapped.
Thinking of a situation with no way out, do you find yourself imagining horror movie scenarios?
Muse certainly played with this concept.
Tribute or parody?
The video was edited by Jesse Lee Stout: Muse Creative Director for Metaform Studio, direction is by Tom Teller.
Among so many references, do you want to mention some?
There are several interpretations of You make me feel like it’s Halloween, mainly originated by the final phrase: but you are the caretaker.
In an interview Matt Bellamy jokingly stated that there were too many songs about Christmas and it was time for someone to celebrate some other holiday, like Halloween for example.
What do you think about?
Over these twenty years undoubtedly Muse with their hits accustomed us to different kind of emotions.
I have always been impressed first and foremost by the powerful charge that Matthew Bellamy & Co. manage to exude, but also by their trademark flair combined with a completely unique genre that initially made it complicated to include them into a defined musical genre.
What is your favorite among their songs?
I know, it’s not easy to choose, I can’t rank them, although I have a special connection with some in particular.
In light of this we can perhaps reconsider You make me feel like it’s Halloween more for the message than the horror quotes, would you agree?
On October 26 Muse will be at Alcatraz in Milan great way to feel in the Hallooween mood.
How about you? When do you feel like it’s Halloween?
In Russia, our next upcoming holiday is National Unity Day, on the 4th of November. This also happens to be the birthday of my dear mother – but I write this only in parenthesis. Her birthday has got nothing to do with Russia’s National Unity Day, which commemorates the popular uprising that expelled Polish –Lithuanian occupation forces from Moscow by a militia from Nizhny Novgorod, in November 1612. And more generally National Unity Day celebrates the end of the so-called Time of Troubles as well as the turning point of the Polish-Russian War (1605–1618). The day’s name alludes to the idea that all classes of Russian society united to preserve the endangered Russian statehood, in November 1612. National Unity Day is a historical-political holiday in the Russian Federation, a day off from work. “Halloween” is not celebrated at all, this is an alien concept, totally un-Russian. This belongs to another world.
So – to answer your question in the last sentence: I never feel like it’s Halloween. For me, it does not exist.
Olivia THANK YOU! With you I always learn history.
Also in Italy, November 4th is National Unity Day and Armed Forces Day.
It’s your mother’s birthday. So she was of the sign of Scorpio. My son was born on November 5th.
On November 1st, however, we celebrate the feast of All Saints and it is a day when schools and most of the workplaces are closed.
A year ago I tried to join the ranks between the various celebrations that back in time are somehow linked to Nos Galan Gaeaf: the fusion between the Celtic New Year Samhain and the pagan festival in honor of Pomona.
It is interesting that Italy also celebrates National Unity Day, on the 4th of November. So this is not a unique Russian concept, I did not know that.
November people, Scorpios, are decent people.I like them.
In case, you can find some celebration moments in this video
It is interesting that both, Italy and Russia, celebrate this holiday on the same day, the 4th of November. And yet they both are totally different states, with a different history and different traditions.
True!
So far and yet close at the same time.
Sometimes we are joined by aspects that we would not imagine.
